Narrative story

One day on a Tuesday night, there was a Big bang outside the front door. I wasn’t really sure what that big bang outside was. I was hoping it  was my two dogs playing and accidentally tipped something over or my mum just got back from work and bumped the rubbish bin down.

Then, I heard the gate opening and closed again, I knew it wasn’t my mum because she never shut the gate close and she would always call my name straight away once she already arrived at home.

This time I knew a stranger or something was coming to my house, I got scared and walked to my room to go and check on my dogs. While I  was walking to my room  I turned on all the lights next to me, By the time I got to the room I heard a Knock at my front door. One of my dogs started barking while my other dog was resting. I rushed to my other dog to make it be quiet so it looked like nobody was home.

When I managed to get them to be quiet I thought that they might have left and was going to go and sit in the living room and continue watching ‘Cobra Kai’ until I heard another knock. But this time it was at the back door and again the dog started barking so I grabbed my dogs and blocked their mouths so they couldn't bark.

After, A couple minutes later I was completely sure that I was safe and watched my program I remembered to let the dogs out so they can go toilet, I had no choice but to open the door for the dogs, when I open the door I saw a Man with a black hoodie on and black jeans, so soon as I saw him he ran up to the door but luckily for me I shut the door and locked it before he could even reach to me.

What, was going on I keep telling myself I soon then see a light coming through the driveway and it was my mum she screamed my name but I yelled to her through the window ‘MUM LOCK THE CAR DOOR’ I was so worried and hoping she had lock the car door, thankfully she did I then told her that I will come outside with the dogs so they can protect my mum and I from that creepy man that was outside the door.

Once I had said that, I quickly ran to the door and opened it I yelled out to the dogs to come outside with me, they started barking and running towards the car I was by myself with no one to protect me, I then hear footsteps towards the door I walked towards the kitchen to get a knife to scare them off than i looked and checked and see my mum walking to me with the dog’s I then know it was safe for me to get out of the house, I was still scared but from that day I never saw him  again.

Volume and capcity

Room 7 and I have learned that Volume is the amount of space in a solid figure and capacity is how much liquid a 3D figure can hold.

The difference between volume and capacity is a way we represent measurements. We measure volume in cubic and capacity in units such as gallons and much more.

Mr and Mrs Gock

A picture tells a thousand words

The photo below is a powerful photo. Putting on the hat of a reporter, write a short explanation about Mrs and Mrs Gock using this photo to inspire you.

Writing: Mrs and Mr Gock were horticultists and were self taught scientists  and they had invented things no one in the world made. They were the first couples to make stickers on fruit and much more they won the bledisloe cup.

Mrs Faye Gock lived a successful life.

Do you agree or disagree with this statement? Whether you agree or disagree, write to explain your opinion.

I agree, because Fay Gock and Joe Gock were a couple with good Business she had 3 daughters, jayne, Virginia, and Raewyn she died from a sudden illness on 21 december 2018.

Known by some, loved by many

At the bottom of the article about Mrs Gock’s death, many people have written comments. Have a read of the comments and write to explain what you feel when reading what people have written.

When I was reading the comments it was mainly about how the Gock Saved the kumara and about how Fay, Joe and their family had to live in a barn because chinese immigrants wern’t allowed to buy houses in New Zealand 1950s.

Relating to others

Mrs Gock’s passing made other people think of the Kiwi Chinese people of New Zealand. What are these comments about? Are they positive or negative?

I think Positive, because most of the people were all commenting about how sad they felt when Mr and Mrs Gock had to live in a barn with their family to start their business because the chinese immigrants couldn’t buy a house at the time.

Harakeke PLant

                                Harakeke or Flax

Harakeke, is one of New Zealand's most distinctive plants,
Harakeke also known as flax can come in very handy and also
have long, often stiff leaves which can also reach up to 4 meters
in length.

Harakeke can be also used for making things such as mats, ropes,
dried flower stalks, as well as baskets, which did you know, back in
the days men and women would make baskets out of Harakeke to
catch fish and also to hold their finger licking food.

Before wanting to cut a Harakeke plant you should always karakia
or in other words pray first. They say always cut diagonal, away

from the plants heart and from top to bottom. Harvesting is
permitted at night or in rain.

Harakeke plants grow throughout New Zealand, from sea level to about 1300 m in
elevation. It is commonly found in lowland wetlands and along rivers,
and in dunes and cliffs.

Did you know that Harakeke is local to New Zealand, meaning that it
grows nowhere else in the world.

In closing I hope you learnt more about Harakeke.

My Story on the weekends!

On Saturday February the 15, my dad went fishing at wai otaki bay while my mum and I went to the mall to buy a feed for all of us, my mum and I talked about me getting a haircut and decided to have a haircut next week or next month I was so excited I hugged my mum and said "Thank you mum for
everything". later that my dad texted and said "hun i'm done fishing i am at home cleaning the fish, text  me when your coming". my mum was excited because she has been craving for raw fish so we went inside Countdown to grab a few things.

When we came out of Countdown we bought pizza for everyone, like everyone, my mum and dad and even my dogs i was so shocked that the dogs get to have a whole box of pizza each, me and my mum was packing the shopping until my mum spotted two little kid walking past by themself my mum told me to give them $10 for them to buy pizza and they said thank you. Once they left we went straight back home to my dad and gave his pizza while my mum and dad were eating i had no choice but to feed the dogs their pizza so they won't fight I couldn't even eat mine so that was a bummer for me but i still showed off eating mine. when my mum and dad finish they started laughing and so was I.

Having Fun With Kiwi Can

Positive Revelations is our topic in Kiwi Can and our Theme is Fair Play.
We started with a Energizer called 21. The rules were you can only say two numbers, and if you don't listen to the number you'll be out, also you cannot help others. The boys had lost and the Girls won.

For our second game which was human bolling we all were in team the boys were on the right and the girls was on the left the rules were, we have to split out legs apart and if the ball goes straight through
your legs you are safe but if the ball hits your leg or feet you are out, if you flench you are out.
The boys Team had won and the Girls lost.

We had a tie so Mr Simanu said that one more game Called End of the Road. The Rules were pretty simple and easy the rules were, we can't yell out the answer to the person who is standing up, only one player from the Girls team have to stand up and on Boy from the Boys team. We all had a turn and the Girls Won.
