Mr and Mrs Gock

A picture tells a thousand words

The photo below is a powerful photo. Putting on the hat of a reporter, write a short explanation about Mrs and Mrs Gock using this photo to inspire you.

Writing: Mrs and Mr Gock were horticultists and were self taught scientists  and they had invented things no one in the world made. They were the first couples to make stickers on fruit and much more they won the bledisloe cup.

Mrs Faye Gock lived a successful life.

Do you agree or disagree with this statement? Whether you agree or disagree, write to explain your opinion.

I agree, because Fay Gock and Joe Gock were a couple with good Business she had 3 daughters, jayne, Virginia, and Raewyn she died from a sudden illness on 21 december 2018.

Known by some, loved by many

At the bottom of the article about Mrs Gock’s death, many people have written comments. Have a read of the comments and write to explain what you feel when reading what people have written.

When I was reading the comments it was mainly about how the Gock Saved the kumara and about how Fay, Joe and their family had to live in a barn because chinese immigrants wern’t allowed to buy houses in New Zealand 1950s.

Relating to others

Mrs Gock’s passing made other people think of the Kiwi Chinese people of New Zealand. What are these comments about? Are they positive or negative?

I think Positive, because most of the people were all commenting about how sad they felt when Mr and Mrs Gock had to live in a barn with their family to start their business because the chinese immigrants couldn’t buy a house at the time.
